Firehawk H1 LED Headlight Bulbs

OVERALL BEST

These bulbs do the name ‘Firehawk’ justice. Here’s one of the heavy-hitters of the headlight industry, which puts out a blisteringly bright light beam, has an appealing look, and lasts longer than the vehicle it’s installed on!

Firehawk’s H1’s are all about power and brightness. These bulbs manage to generate over 20,000 lumens of brightness, helping bring out every detail in the road surface.

Now let’s see how the Firehawk LED headlight bulbs performed in my testing. Initially, there was 1332 lux, so 607 lux more than the standard halogen 725. Rather impressive after 27 minutes, Firehawk bulbs retained 88% of the light output, producing 1172 lux or 447 more lux than standard halogens.

Reviewing my testing for the light pattern compared to stock, it gets a bit fuzzy near the middle and top of the beam. And there is a very low cutoff compared to the hot spot.

The extra power also allows the beam to stretch further down your path, so you can notice obstacles in the road a lot quicker.

The color temperature is rated at a pure white 6000K. I would have liked to see the even cooler 6500K that other bulbs in this category offer, but no such luck.

Still, the 6000K color temperature means this beam reflects off surfaces much more readily. The obvious benefit here is that you can pick out and avoid obstacles in the road, bumps, and potholes more easily.

The angle of projection is wider than on stock halogens, and even most other aftermarket LEDs. This helps you see more of the roadside, and pick out vehicles merging onto the road or pedestrians crossing the street more easily.

We’re glad to report that the beam does not exhibit any dark spots or blurriness, both of which can make it harder to see clearly at night.

All of that power is bound to generate some heat, so I was concerned the bulbs might get damaged with regular heavy use.

But Firehawk seem to have had the same idea, as they outfitted these high performance bulbs with an equally high performance cooling solution. As such, they use thickened copper to allow for better heat transfer.

A 12,000 RPM fan siphons heat away from sensitive bulb components, and replaces it with fresh air, all while producing surprisingly little noise.

An aviation grade aluminum body prevents you from accidentally damaging the bulb body during installation. Durability seems to be the theme of these H1 bulbs, as they’re rated IP68 water and dust resistant.

Given the performance, I was fully expecting these bulbs to be some of the most power-hungry on the market. However, they proved us wrong by providing highly efficient power consumption.

All of that durability and efficiency combine to give these bulbs a staggering 50,000 hour lifespan. That’s pretty much the best longevity you can get for this type of bulb, and also rids you of the hassle of changing bulbs out too often.

Firehawk designed these bulbs with a built-in CANbus driver, which means you don’t have to put up with any distortion or interference with the radio/stereo systems in your car.

Pros
  • 20,000 lumens
  • 6000K color temperature
  • Reflects off surfaces much more readily
  • Notice obstacles quicker
  • Wider angle of projection
  • Does not exhibit any dark spots or blurriness
  • High performance cooling solution
  • 12,000 RPM fan
  • Aviation grade aluminum body
  • Rated IP68 water and dust resistant
  • Efficient power consumption
  • 50,000 hour lifespan
  • Built-in CANbus driver
  • Distortion or interference with the radio/stereo
Cons
  • Competing bulbs offer even cooler color profile

Beamtech H1 LED Headlight Bulbs

BEST BUDGET

If you need a budget-friendly solution to your H1 LED headlight bulb needs, Beamtech is the go-to. Despite the cheaper price tag, these bulbs still manage to put up impressive performance figures.

Beamtech use the latest CSP chips to make their headlight bulbs, allowing them to strike a fine balance between power and power consumption. Speaking of the former, the bulbs deliver 10,000 lumens of brightness, plenty for nighttime driving.

As you can see in my photos below, the beam pattern for Beamtech’s bulbs is nice and clean. When you throw generic (or many’ name brand’) kits into your headlights, you get a lot of scatter, which is blinding to oncoming drivers, and then the beam can have darker spots and not as strong in some areas. Overall my testing found the beam to be one of the best performers out of the bulbs I’ve tested on Amazon.

I was pleasantly surprised by Beamtech’s output in terms of brightness. Based on my testing, Beamtech is one of the top three brightest LED headlight bulbs on amazon. When installed into low beam reflectors, the peak lux was 49% or 1.5 times brighter than a stock halogen bulb. If installed into high beams, they were 23% or 1.23 times brighter over halogen. Now I know some of the differences are pretty small. However, on the road, they make a world of difference.

What they lack in terms of brightness compared to our top pick, they more than make up for with the color profile. These bulbs give you a crisp and clear 6500K beam of light, which adds a lot more detail to your sightline.

We liked that these budget-friendly bulbs do not compromise on the quality of the beam. They put out a stable, flicker-free beam that not only looks phenomenal, but also makes your driving experience safer.

Beamtech also get points for the ease of installation. The bulbs are fully plug-and-play, so you don’t have to mess around with the process.

The heat management capabilities of these bulbs never left us wanting. The use of 6063 aluminum makes for much more effective heat dissipation, and also aids longevity. In fact, these bulbs are rated to last for 30,000 hours, so you won’t have to replace them anytime soon.

There’s a built-in decoding circuit which prevents any flashing or flickering. We are also happy to report that our test vehicles did not throw up any error codes, and there was no radio/stereo interference to speak of.

And lastly, Beamtech’s bulbs surprised us by being IP65 water and dust resistant. Sure, that’s not quite as durable as our top pick, but it’s still pretty impressive.

Pros
  • Latest CSP chips
  • 10,000 lumens or higher brightness
  • 6500K color profile
  • Stable, flicker-free beam
  • No blurry spots
  • Budget-friendly option
  • Easy to install
  • Plug-and-play design
  • 30,000 hours of use
  • Built-in decoding circuit
  • No error codes or flashing
  • Any interference with the radio or stereo
  • Wider angle projection
Cons
  • Not as bright as our top pick

Fahren H1 LED Headlight Bulbs

BEST PREMIUM CHOICE

Fahren’s H1 LED bulbs may be one of the priciest on the market, but the price is well worth it, in our opinion. For your money, you get one of THE brightest light outputs of any H1 bulb, as well as the coolest color temperature, and longest lifespan.

Fahren’s H1 LED bulbs lead the pack in terms of raw output. They can generate 22,000 lumens, putting them above even our top pick when it comes to brightness. So if you want to see every speck of dust on the road, these bulbs are the one to have.

My testing found that Fahren’s bulbs produced 1472 lux in total, which is 747 more lux than the halogens. That’s over twice as bright, and after 27 minutes of runtime, it retains an excellent 89 per cent of the light output. Resulting in a 1313 lux which is 588 more than stock halogen bulbs.

I also reviewed the projector light pattern compared to halogen bulbs, and in the photos below, you can see a pretty clean cutoff. There are blurry areas in the top and middle and a minor weak spot in the middle. But overall, I’m very impressed with how Fahren’s bulbs control the light.

Now let’s review my reflector tests. Initial Fahren’s bulbs produced 2390 lux, 1480 more than the standard 910 lux of halogens.

After 27 minutes, it reduced to 2132 lux or 1222 over the halogen bulb, maintaining that 89% light output.

The beam is more than just a one-trick pony though. In addition to being brighter, this beam also offers higher clarity, making nighttime drives safer and more comfortable.

Color temperature comes in at the 6500K mark, making for an ultra pure white look that is equal parts aesthetically pleasing and practical.

Besides giving your vehicle’s front end a more modern look, it also makes road signs easier to see. The same is true for bumps and potholes in the road.

The angle of view is wider than most other bulbs in this category. This brings more of the roadside into view and lets you keep an eye out for wild animals that could come into your path.

The beam is not marred by any dark spots or blurriness. We did not have to deal with any flickering, and the beam pattern is uniform all the way across.

Moving on to durability, these bulbs are made of high quality aluminum, so you don’t end up accidentally damaging them during installation.

As for day-to-day use, you can expect the IP68 rating to protect these bulbs from snow, rain, and the like. Or, if you want to take your vehicle off-roading, you can rest assured that the bulbs will hold up just fine to mud and moisture.

A 12,000 RPM turbo fan keeps operating temperatures to a manageable minimum, and it is helped along by the hollow carved heat sink.

There is one drawback though. Specifically, the higher performance does necessitate higher power consumption. That being said, the power draw isn’t too concerning, given how bright these bulbs are.

But these bulbs more than make up for the higher power consumption with the 50,000 hour lifespan. And lastly, we liked the inclusion of an intelligent IC driver, which eliminates distortion with stereo/radio systems and also ensures you don’t get any error codes with the car’s ECU.

Pros
  • 22,000 lumens
  • 6500K color profile
  • Wider angle of projection
  • Uniform beam pattern
  • Adjustable ring
  • Aviation grade aluminum
  • 12,000 RPM turbo fan
  • Hollow carved heat sink
  • IP68 water and dust proof rating
  • 50,000 hour lifespan
  • Intelligent IC driver
  • Less prone to causing issues with your car’s onboard systems
Cons
  • Power consumption is a bit higher than other bulbs
