What is an LED Headlight Conversion Kit?
LED headlight conversion kits are aftermarket products for replacing or upgrading your existing vehicle headlights.

Why Use an LED Headlight Conversion Kit?
The reason most people upgrade their headlights is to increase the brightness and improve visibility.
Most LED bulbs are not legal in the USA for road headlight use (not compliant with DOT/FMVSS108). They are too bright for use on the road as they may impair the ability of other drivers to see.

Fitment and Compatibility
As with any automotive part, you should always check for fitment first. LEDs typically come in different sizes to fit different vehicle models. However, some are designed for universal fitment.
Today, almost all LEDs have built-in drivers, but some may require additional drivers to be compatible with particular vehicle models. The required wattage and voltage may also play a role.
Luminosity
Luminosity measures the perceived brightness, intensity, or strength of lights in lumens, or “lm.” Typical aftermarket headlights have a luminosity of 6,000 – 12,000 lm. Standard halogen bulbs emit around 700 (low beam) to 1,200 (high beam) lumens.
Remember that LED headlights above 3,000 lumens are not road legal in most places. They are meant for use off-road or under challenging conditions where exceptional brightness is needed.
Some manufacturers measure the light intensity in lux, but this is less common.
Color temperature
Color temperature is independent of intensity or brightness but plays an essential role in performance. The typical range for headlights is between 2,000K (most yellow) and 12,000K (most blue).
Halogens tend to fall under the lower, more yellow range, while LEDs produce whiter or more bluish light. Bulbs with a 5,000K – 6,000K color temperature have a “pure” white light.

While some halogen bulbs allow you to adjust the color temperature, LEDs are usually fixed. So, you must be more careful to choose the right color temperature according to your needs and preferences.
Lifespan
LEDs tend to have a much longer operating lifetime than halogen bulbs. That’s due mainly to the fact that they run much cooler and more efficiently, which reduces burnout. Most top–end LED bulbs have a lifespan of 30,000 – 50,000 hours. That’s roughly 5.5 years of non-stop usage.
Any cooling, such as fans, heatsinks, or other heat dissipation technology, will improve the lifespan of LED bulbs.
The IP rating also plays a role because it indicates how well-protected the bulb is against water and physical particles.
