Antline 1157 LED Tail Light Bulbs

Overall Best

Antline makes one of our favourite 1157 LED tail light bulbs, offering enhanced brightness, a cooler look, and best in class longevity.

If you’re looking to upgrade your stock bulbs for something that is a bit more visible to people behind you, Antline’s LEDs offer a dramatic improvement in brightness. Their LED tail lights utilise the latest SMD chips allowing them to generate brighter output. In fact these LEDs get up to 300% brighter than the stock alternative.

While each unit uses 50 LEDs, they are surprisingly efficient and consume less power than stock bulbs. We did not face any issues with overheating or drops in performance. One complaint is that these LEDs exhibit slight flashing, which is quickly remedied with the installation of an additional load resistor.

They are also quite versatile and can be used for more than just your tail lights. Unlike some tail light bulbs, these LEDs are bright white and can be used for other applications. They work outstandingly well as reversing lights, marker LEDs and even turn signals.

Each LED comes with a one year warranty that covers any manufacturing defects, so you can rest assured that you won’t have to put up with any faulty LEDs.

Pros
  • 300% brighter than stock
  • Cool white color
  • More easily visible for other drivers
  • Aids safety in lower visibility conditions

Autoone 1157 Tail Light Bulbs

Best Budget

Autoone makes a spectacular budget friendly LED tail light kit. While it isn’t as bright as the Antline, it is still a noticeable improvement over stock bulbs and offers great value.

When it comes to LED bulbs, especially smaller ones like 1157 bulbs, it is best to have more LED chips per unit. While the Autoone only has 18 SMD chips per unit, it is still brighter and more easily visible than your stock tail light bulbs. In fact, we found them to be over 250% brighter than stock tail lights.

That makes them much more visible to drivers behind you and helps make your car more visible in fog or rain. The beam of these LEDs is quite vibrant thanks to a 6500K colour temperature. This allows them to be seen from further away and also function as reversing lights, turn signals, marker LEDs, and even DRLs.

One thing these budget LEDs don’t lack is durability. They feature an aircraft grade aluminium body and a unique design geared towards improving heat dissipation. All said and done, that’s enough to get you over 45,000 hours of use.

Using these LEDs day to day, we did not have to put up with any flickering or flashing as with some aftermarket LEDs. They did not overheat or cause any errors with the car’s ECU.

Pros
  • 250% brightness boost
  • 6500K color
  • Can be used as DRLs. side markers, turn signals
  • More visible for other drivers

JDM ASTAR Extremely Bright Tail Light Bulbs

Premium Choice

JDM ASTAR makes one of our favourite 1157 LED bulbs. This is one of the brightest and most high-tech 1157 bulbs we’ve ever seen.

What sets these bulbs apart from the rest is their intense brightness. We found them to be over 350% brighter than standard bulbs. That means you get more intense output that is easily visible to other drivers.

They have a superior colour profile to regular bulbs, and when used in a turn signal configuration, they flash amber-off-amber-off instead of amber-white-amber-white as some bulbs do. This makes them easier to see, improving safety while driving

Another benefit of these bulbs is that they have premium internal components. They are equipped with constant current driving IC and an aluminium circuit board which help reduce power consumption and extend lifespan. We are happy to report that these bulbs feature more efficient thermal dissipation, and a heat resistant build that eliminates the chance of heat damage.

Finally, using these bulbs regularly we did not encounter any flickering. Moreover, there was no digital interference with the radio or stereo systems.

One slight drawback is that because of their amber color, these bulbs are more suited for LED turn signals than tail lights. However they still function really well and still function better than stock to lightbulbs when used in that configuration.

Pros
  • Brightest output of any 1157 bulb
  • More easily noticeable for other drivers
  • Best for use as turn signals
  • Amber-off-amber-off pattern
  • No flickering
  • No digital interference with stereo
  • Aluminium circuit board resists heat damage
Cons
  • Better suited for turn signals than tail lights
