PHILIPS XenStart D1S HID Headlight Bulbs

OVERALL BRIGHTEST

The Philips D1S headlight bulbs offer better illumination, a more pleasing colour profile, and dramatically improved nighttime visibility.

When it comes to brightness, these are some of the most intense bulbs we’ve seen in the HID category. Coming in at 3200 lumens, they are a significant bump up compared to stock bulbs. That makes for better illumination, and an easier time making out objects in your path.

The powerful beam extends further and also brings more of your path into view, improving safety.

While 4300k isn’t the ultra pure white you get with LED bulbs, it is one of the clearest and most precise beams of any HID bulb.

In fact, we were impressed by the aesthetically pleasing look and also the functionality of this wider beam which helps the driver notice potential hazards in the road more quickly.

Build quality is also worth praising. These bulbs are made in Germany and use premium materials such as aluminium and specially treated glass which increase durability and help them last longer than the stock alternative.

Furthermore, power consumption is lower than the benchmark. That means not only do you get a more efficient bulb, you get one that resists damage to sensitive internal components.

Light distribution is uniform and we did not have to put up with any dark spots when using this bulb. The beam calibration is precise and well calibrated. The beam did not exhibit any blurriness or flickering.

Pros
  • 3200 lumens
  • 4300k colour profile
  • Better illumination
  • More aesthetically pleasing look
  • Precise beam
  • Uniform beam pattern
  • No dark spots
  • No blurriness
  • Efficient power consumption
  • Durable build
  • No flickering or flashing
  • Made in Germany
  • 3 year warranty
Cons
  • One driver reported bulbs flickering in extremely cold weather

Sinoparcel D1S Xenon HID Headlight Bulb

BUDGET BRIGHTEST

These budget friendly HIDs provide a stunningly cool colour profile, excellent durability in addition to their high brightness and awesome illumination.

While they may not be as bright as the Phillips, they still hold their own against most HID options. These HIDs deliver a wider field of vision, thanks to the longer throw and expansive angle of projection. Not only were we able to see further, we also saw more of the roadside and the adjoining lanes.

The colour temperature of these bulbs is their main selling point. 8000k is a true blue headlight and it looks phenomenal installed on your car.

While it is still really effective at picking out objects and hazards in the road, the blue light may be a bit distracting and does detract a bit from the overall brightness.

Finally on the topic of lifespan and durability, theis bulb uses a tungsten filament which is more resistant to heat damage and also performs better than traditional filaments.

Overall, we really liked this blue headlight bulb with its stable beam, uniform output, and flicker free operation.

Pros
  • Bright and powerful light output
  • Wider coverage and longer throw
  • No dark spots
  • No flickering or flashing
  • Does not exhibit blurriness
  • Precise focusing
  • 8000k colour profile
  • Unique blue colour
  • Tungsten filament is more resistant to heat damage
Cons
  • Blue colour headlights may be a bit distracting for other drivers on the road

Osram Xenarc D1S HID Headlight Bulbs

Premium Choice

These premium Osram D1S bulbs incorporate German engineering and design with some of the top performance we’ve ever seen in terms of light output, colour reproduction, and longevity.

These bulbs excel in terms of brightness. Stock bulbs cannot even compare to the crisp and powerful beam of these Osram bulbs. They provide exceptional illumination, delivering longer throw and wider road coverage, which brings more of your path into view.

As for the colour profile, these bulbs come with a 4300k rating which is a standard white lock that has a couple different benefits.

First and foremost the standard white look eliminates any flickering in your headlight set up. Moreover, the colour is not as distracting for other drivers and improves road safety.

Most importantly however, this cooler white colour is ideal for noticing obstacles and stray animals on the road. Besides that they also make for a cooler look that is more aesthetically pleasing.

Another plus point of these bulbs is the lifespan. To say that these are some of the longest lasting bulbs in the HID category is an understatement. They consume significantly less power while also delivering great build quality that ensures excellent in class longevity.

Besides our own testing, other drivers also report sustained high performance over years of regular use.

Installation for these HIDs was relatively simple, however we would still recommend a professional installation for ideal fitment.
