Our cars have a lot of other lights that we often forget about, the trunk, the glove box, and other interior and exterior ones.

The good news is that you can replace all of them with one bulb, and that’s the T10. Your factory-installed halogens are pretty weak in the brightness department, so why not upgrade to LEDs?

For over a decade, I’ve been testing and using bulbs from every supplier imaginable and can tell you the good from the bad in a heartbeat.

I recently tested a stack of T10s and narrowed down the three brightest. The Auxbeam T10 LEDs were my favorites. I’ve also listed a runner-up for best and a budget item.

The Auxbeam T10 LEDs are designed to match the size of standard factory halogens, a feature I genuinely appreciate. And their No-Polarity design means no matter how you slot the bulb into the fitting, it just works.

It took me a mere 5 minutes to install these. It’s that straightforward.

But keep in mind, T10 LEDs are known to cause hyper-flashing (you’ll see why in my FAQs below), so you’ll likely need to install a load equalizer as well. My tests confirmed this.

Putting Them to the Test

I’ve always been a fan of Auxbeam’s vehicle lights, so I was excited to test out their T10 LEDs.

I set up a comparison at a 20-feet distance against factory halogens, which typically have a lux rating of between 8-16.

My halogens clocked in a lux rating of 12. But the Auxbeams? An astounding 46 lux rating! They’re nearly four times brighter.

I was particularly struck by the crisp 6,000 Kelvin color of the whites. The clarity and brilliance of these Auxbeam T10s are truly commendable.

I did experience some hyper-flashing. But the moment I installed the load equalizer, it stopped right away.

However, many drivers expressed disappointment that the bulbs didn’t last the advertised 50,000 hours. Honestly, I’m not surprised. I shared their scepticism right from the start.

A Contender Worth Mentioning 

My second in line for the brightest T10 LED Bulbs comes from Alla Lighting. They’re impressively bright, but there’s a snag that kept them from nabbing the top spot. You’ll get all the details in my test results below.

Examining the Brightness and Color Temperature

Alla Lighting claims that its T10 LED bulbs shine at 250 lumens each and are a whopping 500% brighter. I can’t fully endorse that claim, but my tests did reveal a notable increase in brightness.

These bulbs boast a 6000 Kelvin color – a xenon white that makes objects stand out clearer than they do under the amber-yellow glow of factory halogens.

However, their 1.5 watts is a bit higher than other brands, and I suspect that’s the culprit behind the heat issues I and other drivers have encountered.

Dissecting the Cooling System

Alla Lighting asserts that its T10 LEDs offer excellent heat dissipation, courtesy of an integrated aluminum heat sink.

Unfortunately, my tests suggested that the heat doesn’t dissipate quite as well as advertised.

A Closer Look at Durability and Longevity

Alla Lighting leveraged technology to stabilize the current in their T10 LEDs, equipping them with a built-in smart IC driver.

They’re IP65 waterproof – not the highest rating of 68, but they should still perform adequately in wet or foggy driving conditions.

The bulbs are claimed to last 30,000 hours, but due to the heating issue I’ve mentioned, I’m skeptical. More on that soon.

Given that the company offers a one-year guarantee on this T10 product, I’d expect them to last at least that long.

Navigating the Installation

With a CAN bus error-free design and non-polarity, you should be good to go as soon as you plug them in and flip the switch.

However, I’d advise installing a load equalizer to dodge any dashboard notifications and hyper-flashing.

In the Testing Grounds

Despite the modest 240-lumen rating, these bulbs surprised me with their brightness. My lux test produced a rating of 37, a hefty jump from the 12 from my factory halogens. That’s not the 500% brightness Alla promises, but it’s a respectable 300%.

But here’s the rub with these bulbs – they heat up. And they do it quickly. I can’t exactly determine what’s causing this, though the higher wattage might be too much for the bulb to handle.

I’d think twice before using these in the glove box, especially if you store papers or plastic items in there. They might fare better on the exterior of the vehicle.

Drivers seem to share my thoughts. 79% of them gave the Alla Lighting T10 LEDs a full 5/5 stars. The superior brightness, which starkly contrasts with halogens, garnered much praise.

But the heat issue is a real concern, voiced by many reviewers. Some reported that the bulbs were too hot to touch after just a few minutes of use.

If you’re after brilliantly bright exterior brake, license plate, or turn signal lights, the Alla Lighting T10 LEDs won’t disappoint. However, considering the heat issue, I’d be wary of using them for interiors.

Your Best Bet on a Budget

If you’ve got just a crisp $10 bill in your pocket but need to swap out some interior and exterior factory halogens, the Sealight T10 LEDs are your go-to.

Diving into Brightness and Color Temperature

Each Sealight T10 LED bulb offers 300 lumens of brightness, making them seriously bright. They advertise as being 1000% brighter than halogens – a pretty hefty claim. Although my tests didn’t rate them quite that high, they still outperformed by a long shot.

With a Kelvin color temperature of 2,700, they provide a standard amber-yellow light, akin to factory halogens. Now, some folks (myself included) might prefer the clarity of a 6,000K white light, but this yellowish glow is more than sufficient for interiors and the exterior lights where T10s are typically used.

Checking Out the Cool Features

I’m a big fan of the 360° illumination these bulbs offer. It’s crucial, as it doesn’t dazzle drivers either in front or behind you.  These T10 LEDs provide an excellent downroad beam, as you’ll see from my test results.

Probing the Cooling System

The aviation-grade aluminum body of these LEDs allows them to dissipate heat 200% faster, leading to efficient cooling.

Evaluating Durability and Longevity

The T10 LEDs by Sealight are built from a shock and impact-resistant ABS material, making for a stable light output.

The cooling system effectively keeps the heat at bay. Sealight promotes a lifespan of 50,000 hours for these LEDs. While I’ve yet to see any LED reach that threshold, hitting the average mark of 30,000 hours seems highly probable.

With an IP67 waterproof rating, you can confidently cruise through rain, fog, or snow without worrying about damaging the bulbs.

Understanding the Installation

These bulbs are the definition of plug-and-play. Thanks to their non-polarity design, it doesn’t matter which way you install them. The only hiccup is that they’re slightly larger than factory halogens, so they might not fit in some older models.

Just like with the other bulbs, I’d recommend installing a load equalizer to bypass any hyper-flashing issues.

Entering the Test Zone

As always, I tested at a standard 20 feet distance. My factory halogens scored a lux rating of 12.

The Sealight T10 LEDs pulled off an impressive 45 lux, barely one point behind the Auxbeams. So no, they aren’t 1,000% brighter than the halogens, but they’re close to 400% brighter, and that’s more than enough.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the amber-yellow Kelvin color; I lean towards white. But I did note that these leaned more towards yellow than amber, which may not be to everyone’s taste.

A noticeable advantage of these T10 LEDs was that they boosted my viewing distance by 200% compared to the halogens.

Praises poured in for their superior brightness and super easy installation process.

The gripes echoed my own observations – they don’t fit all models, and the Kelvin color leans more yellow than amber-yellow.

The Final Verdict

For a mere $10 per pair, the Sealight T10 LEDs deliver excellent brightness. I do wish these companies would abstain from making exaggerated claims like “1,000% brighter” and a “50,000-hour lifespan,” as they’re simply not true. But if you can live with the amber-yellow color, these bulbs offer exceptional value for your money and are worth stocking up on.
