Brightness and Color Temperature

Each of these bulbs pumps out a blinding 20,000 lumens. Novsight says they’re 900% brighter than your run-of-the-mill halogens. Now, my own tests didn’t quite confirm that figure, but they’re still darn impressive.

I love the 6,500 Kelvin cool white light they cast. It’s a game changer from the mellow white light typical of factory halogens. That cool white clarity lets me spot objects with razor-sharp precision.

Novsight brags that these bulbs can run for 100,000 hours. Now, that’s a lofty claim, as most competitors promise just 50,000 hours, and I’ve never seen bulbs go past 30,000 hours. My own tests have shown that reaching 100,000 hours is pretty unlikely.

With an IP68 waterproof rating, I’ve taken them out in heavy rain, through snowstorms, in dusty sandstorms, and into dense fog with utmost confidence.

Novsight offers a 16-month warranty, so I’d expect these bulbs to at least survive that long. But for such a high-end product, I was hoping for a two or three-year warranty. Sixteen months doesn’t seem great for a bulb in this price range.

I took the time to measure the N60 myself: it’s approximately 1.6 inches from the back side of the collar to the fan’s trailing edge, and the fan itself is about 1.4 inches in diameter. I’d advise you to check these measurements against your vehicle’s specs before buying.

Installation

The Novsight N60 LED bulbs come with a slightly larger-than-usual external driver, which won’t suit all vehicles.

My Tests

I gave all my bulbs a 20-foot projector test. The N60s held their own against factory halogens, which come in at 725 lux.

After a typical US commute time of 27 minutes, they maintained 76% of that light. That’s slightly lower than the average 80%, but still pretty decent.

In terms of reflector output, they were stunning, starting with an impressive 5420 lux, which is five times brighter than halogens at 910 lux. After 27 minutes, the N60s still delivered a radiant 4119 lux. Extraordinarily bright!

The manufacturer claims these bulbs have a power output of 100 watts each, but my tests showed a significantly lower figure – just 66.2 watts each, which is 33.8 watts less than the published figure.

After letting them run for 27 minutes, I found the central unit heated up to 231F, and the driver reached 153F. These temperatures are slightly higher than other bulbs I’ve tested, which makes me doubt their 100,000-hour longevity claim.

The actual beam pattern was impressive, with a clean cutoff. There was a minor weak spot in the lower part of the beam, but overall, the light output was exceptional and incredibly bright.
